Somewhere (Chorale)

A song of hope from the musical Rising Sun
Words & Music by Tim J. Spencer

Welcome to what is, without question, the most ambitious and powerful recording I’ve ever produced.

Somewhere (Chorale) is a choral concert version drawn from two key moments in my original musical Rising Sun. Originally written as a poignant solo and then reprised in the show’s finale, this arrangement brings those moments together to form one soaring, emotionally charged piece — a true anthem of hope and resilience.

Performed by a cast of six outstanding female vocalists and a chorus of twelve, the track builds from intimate beginnings to a sweeping and triumphant finale. It has previously been performed at some of the UK’s most iconic venues — including The London Palladium, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and The Royal Albert Hall with a 3,000-strong choir.

After years in the making — and with one final voice part crafted using AI technology modelled on my own vocals — this recording is finally complete.

Please take a few minutes to watch the video below. If it moves you, I’d be truly grateful if you shared it with others.

The Chorale version of Somewhere is a concert version. It amalgamates the Solo, Somewhere from Tim's musical Rising Sun, with the finale of that show to create an epic concert piece that builds into a fantastic climax.

Let Me Be On Stage - An ' I Want' Song

In June 2020 Tim entered the #MercurySongwritingContest which was held by the Mercury Theatre, Colchester in search of an 'I Want' song. The 'I Want' Song in a musical is usually early in the show when one of the main protagonist's explain what they're looking for. A couple of examples would be 'Part of Your World' from the The Little Mermaid or 'My Shot' from Hamilton.

Tim's notes :

This is a song which came about during lockdown and the deep desire to get back on stage, I was thinking about a scenario a little like the Cliff Richard movie 'The Young Ones' when everyone would get together to put on a show and the feeling of loving the theatre when it's empty as well as when it's full.
